About USA Climbing

USA Climbing is the national governing body for competition climbing in the United States, recognized by both the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Its mission is to advance and promote climbing as a competitive and community sport at every level—from youth and collegiate programs to elite international competitions.

USA Climbing oversees the three primary competition disciplines—bouldering, sport/lead climbing, and speed climbing—as well as adaptive paraclimbing. Through a nationwide competition structure, athletes progress from local and regional events to national championships, with top performers earning the opportunity to represent the United States on the world stage.

As the pathway to the U.S. National Team and Olympic competition, USA Climbing plays a central role in developing the country’s top athletes, including Olympians and World Cup medalists. Beyond elite competition, the organization is dedicated to fostering a supportive climbing community by partnering with gyms, coaches, and route setters nationwide.

Gym Closures

In preparation for Death Moth and two USAC Competitions in Denver and Louisville, portions of these gyms will be closed. As a section closes it will remain closed until the day of the events for competitors. Fitness and boards will remain open while the gym is open.
