Explore the Thrill of Bouldering: Short, Powerful Climbing Routes for All Skill Levels
Bouldering is a style of climbing that focuses on short, powerful routes—typically 10 to 15 feet tall—climbed without ropes. Instead of being tied in, climbers fall onto padded flooring, making it an accessible and dynamic way to climb. Each route is called a “problem,” highlighting the mental challenge and technical precision required to complete it.
Originally developed as a way for climbers to practice difficult moves for larger, roped climbs, bouldering has since grown into a beloved discipline in its own right. It’s a deeply social form of climbing, where climbers naturally gather to share beta, support each other, and celebrate progress together.
Bouldering is at the heart of our identity. Since opening in 2002 as one of the first dedicated bouldering gyms in the country, our Boulder location has played a pioneering role in the sport. Its innovative walls and community-first atmosphere have attracted top climbers, hosted legendary competitions, and cultivated one of the most welcoming climbing communities in the world. Bouldering walls can be found at the heart of each Spot location.
