Summer Camp Counselor

Role: Summer Camp Counselor

Reports To: Youth Programs Coordinator

Type of Position: Part-Time, Hourly, Staff, Seasonal

Job Description: Youth Event Staff is an entry-level position that involves working alongside recreational youth coaches to provide incredible experiences to young climbers at birthday parties, youth groups, and camps. Youth Event Staff should be outgoing and energetic and display a clear passion for climbing.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a climber with an understanding of climbing techniques and terminology

  • Belay certification required to work (at our rope based gyms)

  • Solid working knowledge of climbing equipment: belay devices, harnesses, knots

  • Proven skills in group management

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate to kids and parents

  • Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others

  • Capable of standing on feet for extended periods of time

  • Must be physically capable of top rope belaying a climber

  • Must pass a background check

  • Must be at least 16 years of age

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide participants with impactful, high quality climbing experiences

  • Effectively manage risk in an indoor climbing environment

  • Ability to follow a curriculum

  • Top rope belaying (at our ropes based gyms)

  • Setup, overseeing and cleanup of various youth program activities

  • Programs include but are not limited to: birthday parties, groups, events and camps

  • Provide instruction on climbing risk management including falling, landing, and potential hazards

    around the gym

  • Excellent parent communication and customer service

  • Ability to manage your time clock appropriately

  • Must be able to independently follow written and verbal instructions

  • Must be able to cheerfully and professionally communicate with members of the public

  • Must be able to attend all scheduled or assigned shifts

  • Other duties as required

Compensation: $18.29/hour.
