It’s really awesome to welcome Zoe to the team as a new youth coach and instructor. She rocks in that role, bringing many years of experience in comp climbing at a high level, including solid finishes in international events!! We’re psyched that’s she’s now passing her knowledge and skills down the line to the latest generation of crushers at The Spot.

Why did you join the team at the spot?
I wanted to be more involved in the climbing community in Boulder and share the excitement I used to get from going to team practices every day growing up.

What do you love about working at The Spot?
The community is awesome. Everyone is super friendly and motivated, which makes it easy and fun to come to work everyday. Coaching the kids and seeing how psyched they can get by accomplishing even just a single move reminds me why I love climbing and being a part of the community. Not to mention, they’re always playing some good beats.

Why do you climb?
When it comes down to it, I climb because it fulfills my thirst for creativity, adventure, and achievement; something no other activity or material thing can do. It consumes me both emotionally and physically. Sometimes, it’s all I can think about. It’s definitely a sort of outlet that allows me to completely focus on what I’m doing in the moment and temporarily forget about the realities of school and life. This being said, I will almost always find time for rock climbing in my life. It’s a huge part of who I am and something that I hope to do for as long as my body allows.

Where do you hope to be in five years?
I honestly have no clue where I hope to be in five years. I usually don’t think that far ahead. I do miss living on the coast, however. Potentially beach bound?!
